The National Farm Animal Council has Codes of Practice for the care and handling of farm animals available here.  The Council is not a government body, but its executive includes federal and provincial representation, as well as national and provincial associations.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) monitors and reports upon certain categories of communicable diseases for both terrestrial and aquatic animals.  The three categories of federally reportable diseases for terrestrial animals can be found here on the CFIA website.

The CanadaGAP TM is a food safety program for companies that produce and handle fruit and vegetables.

Our office frequently receives calls from people travelling to or from Alaska, looking for places to unload horses overnight. A good spot to look is in Horsin’ Around Yukon.

The YAA endeavours to provide current members with relevant agricultural information via e-mail updates and web links.  The Executive Director passes along details that easily fit within the YAA mandate.  Please note that all agricultural advocacy information (or requests for distribution) are given to the YAA Board of Directors for consideration, as advocacy is part of the YAA board duties.
