Governance & AGMs
Board Policy Manual
Matters relating to the governance of YAA’s board of directors are guided by YAA’s board policy manual. The governance committee is responsible for drafting new policies and for reviewing proposed edits; policy changes are then discussed, debated and approved at board meetings. Every board member has an updated copy of the policy manual in his/her binder to ensure that policies are checked and referenced at every board meeting.
Annual General Meetings
YAA 2019 AGM was held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Gold Rush Inn.
YAA held two AGMs in 2018 because of a change in its fiscal year-end: May and November of 2018.
YAA’s current 5-year strategic plan was drafted in late 2016 and approved by the board in early 2017. Training and facilitation was provided by Lyn Hartley. YAA is grateful to the Government of Yukon’s Advanced Education NGO Training Fund for their generous financial contribution to this important initiative.
YAA’s financial year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31. At each AGM, financial statements are presented to the members for review and approval. As per the scheduled requirements of Society Act, YAA’s 2017-18 financial statements were reviewed by an accountant. BDO completed the review. No concerns were flagged.
Meg Smith-Potter of Precision Bookkeeping Services is YAA’s bookkeeper.
