ABOUT US

The Yukon Agricultural Association (YAA) is a non-profit, democratically elected organization representing farmers and producers across the Yukon Territory. Since 1974, YAA has strengthened the territory’s agricultural sector through advocacy, producer support, and initiatives that promote food security and address the unique challenges of northern farming.
YAA engages with producers, policymakers, and researchers to drive innovation and sustainability in Yukon agriculture. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration with government and non-government partners, the organization ensures that the voice of Yukon producers is heard at all levels.
As a member of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, YAA advocates for the interests of Yukon producers on national issues.
Guided by a five-year strategic plan, YAA is committed to fostering opportunities for both private and commercial producers and advancing the interests of Yukon-grown food at local, regional, and national levels.

Mission
To foster and promote sustainable Yukon agriculture for the benefit of both private and commercial producers and consumers through education, infrastructure development, and liaison with government agencies and with non-government organizations.
Vision
To help Yukon producers develop a way of life and an industry that provides the Yukon's needs for those agricultural goods and services that can be produced in the Territory.
Strategic Plan
Through member consultations, strategic facilitated visioning exercises, and thorough board review, the Yukon Agricultural Association (YAA) adopted a five-year strategic plan in 2022 to guide its work and achieve measurable results.
The plan identifies five primary goals and priorities:
-
Infrastructure & Equipment
-
Advocacy for Policies & Programs
-
Communication & Education
-
Membership Recruitment & Retention
-
Effective Board Governance & Administration
The Association’s actions and strategic directions are reviewed and updated regularly to ensure continued progress and responsiveness to the needs of Yukon producers. At the 2025 AGM, YAA presented a framework to advance this strategic plan and address key producer priorities.
