The Yukon Agriculture Branch provides information to commercial producers, hobby farmers, and the general public regarding agricultural development, production, marketing and crop management. The branch offers on-farm and in-office consultations on land development, soil management, irrigation, crop selection, building and fence design, and regulatory requirements including meat inspection. The branch administers the Canadian Agricultural Partnership funding program that provides funding assistance for agriculture industry development. Throughout the year, educational seminars and conferences are offered to transfer knowledge on agricultural production in the north. The branch manages agriculture land sales and grazing agreements on crown lands in the Yukon. Advice and direction is provided on agricultural land for commercial farm enterprises that focus on crops and livestock that are economically viable. The Agriculture Branch manages the Yukon Government Research Farm; research focuses on soil fertility and crop management. Crops including forages, grains, vegetables, and berries have been examined over the past 25 years.
